What are the advantages of monthly contact lenses?

You'll need to clean them daily, but they are cheaper than buying daily disposables or bi-weekly lenses, so you will save money.

They are also available in a wider range of prescriptions than Daily disposable contact lenses.

Plus, they are a more environmentally friendly option than Dailies.

Some monthly lenses such as Biofinity, Air Optix, Purevision and Ultra also give you the freedom of going to bed without a contact lens routine.  These lenses can be worn as extended wear lenses if approved by your optician (extended wear means continuous use for 1 -2 weeks or more, depending on the lens type and your opticians advice).

Are there any disadvantages to monthly contact lenses?

It can be difficult to remember to replace your lenses on a monthly schedule, which can lead to over wearing your contact lenses.

Silicone hydrogel monthly contact lenses

Silicone hydrogel lens material allows higher levels of oxygen to flow through the lens to your eyes than hydrogel. First generation silicone hydrogel daily disposable lenses were stiffer, thicker and less comfortable than hydrogel daily disposable lenses. Not so today. The latest generation of silicone hydrogel materials is softer and more comfortable than its predecessors.
